The Red Lines - Part 2 (Electric Boogaloo)

Some fucker sent The Omnivore a reminder of his old "Red Lines" post about when it would be time to pack up and go--declare America a failed state and Trump-world. The Omnivore reads this as about 1.5 out of 3 (the Portland Trump-Army experiment isn't full-scale nazariffic crack down--but, yeah: it's the wrong direction. Trump is more and more moving from really loud whistle (doggie style) to "well, eventually he's just gonna come out and say the n-word, right? I mean, we're all ready for it by now?"

So--what does that mean?

The Omnivore Isn't Ready To Run Just Yet

Polling indicates that the rest of America, save for about 35%, isn't onboard with Trump's positions and it doesn't look like it's going to get a lot better just by gassing the Wall of Moms (that's a newbie mistake for would-be dictators: don't have your security forces overreact to sympathetic looking victims--have you learned NOTHING??).

So there's still, maybe, an election between Us and Them--and election that looks distinctly winnable and a force that looks like a solid counterbalance (the Lincoln Project has said they will attack GOP Senators who try to shut down Biden the way the GOP did Obama because they have, correctly, it appears, realized what exactly that led to: Trump).

So no, we have not crossed the vermilion barrier.

No. What The Omnivore wants to know is: Trumper--what the fuck are YOUR red lines.

Trumper--Not Trumpaloo

The Omnivore presumes there are still--maybe--some Trump supporters from 2016 who could be salvaged before the election. This does seem a bit unlikely: if they stuck with him through Ukraine, through blowing up the deficit, through Very Fine People (and cheering Storm Front Nazis), through rank incompetence, and finally, through tens of thousands of unnecessarily dead Americans, it seems unlikely, statistically, that anything could unseat them.

But maybe there is.

What. Would. It. Take?

That's a real question to any Trumpers out there with the capacity to introspect and maybe formulate an answer (for themselves, they would never tell The Omnivore).

Oh, Really? The Omnivore Is Shocked, He Tells You. Shocked.

It turns out there was gambling in the establishment all along! Wowsers, Scooby! Who knew!?

What did the Omnivore see in that mind? Why, it was excuses for all that shit up there that was way, way past the moral event horizon for any reasonably moral person. Ukraine was a Dem overreach to try to unseat Trump for no really good reason. Very Fine People was a press-driven misrepresentation of what he really said (who cares if the two actual nazis cheered or not). A Hillary President wouldn't have stopped travel from China--because it's raaaaacist and condemned even MORE Americans to death. Pardoning a war criminal for use as a campaign prop? BUT BEHNGHAZZZI!! Having the Attorney General shill blatantly for POTUS? BUT MUH FAST AND FURRYOUS!!

Yeah. The Omnivore is shocked.

Here is what The Omnivore knows that you don't :  you don't have moral red lines because those only exist for people who haven't traded their morals to keep a woman you stupidly disliked out of power when the alternative to taking a boo-boo in your kulture-war was to put an idiot on the throne who would, yes, get your fellow Americans killed needlessly in a crisis.

You sold your morals then--and you can't get them back.

Not voting in November? A pox on both their houses?

Nope: that's putting your morals on lay-away. It isn't buying them back. What The Lincoln Project did is, amazingly, something you can't. Not only are they advocating for Biden but they have introspected enough to realize that their previous selves were wrong--and doing things for the wrong reasons--with bad outcomes which they owned.

That's amazing. It's rare. It's really hard. They have gotten blow-back for it.

And it's beyond you.
