The "Fake COVID" Scenario

As the news broke like a tidal-wave of well deserved mockery over Trump and the first lady coming down with COVID, a second narrative swirled around Left-Wing circles: what if the president is faking his diagnosis? He could then pop back out on Tuesday, healthy as a horse, and claim he just took fish-tank cleaner and it cleared him right up.

Then he could, like, The Omnivore doesn't know, wrestle Biden or something?

Right?

Nope.

No--That's not how this works.

Exhibit A: The White House Did NOT Disclose

The White House wanted to keep Hick's diagnosis under wraps--but it leaked. Then all eyes turned to the President (who, even after knowing he was heavily exposed, held a fundraiser--maybe the Typhoid-Trumpy'd a bunch of donors? At least maybe they got something for their money?). No, they wanted to keep it under wraps--but the White House leaks like a . . . well . . . something that leaks a lot.

Exhibit B: Scramble The Bombers

The Omnivore can't completely confirm this--but has seen references to it in various places--when POTUS is incapacitated, the military goes on higher alert.

This apparently happened. It would NOT happen for a campaign hoax.

Exhibit C: The Narrative

When you are running for POTUS--especially as an old man--the narrative that "you might die" is NOT the one you want out there. Beating COVID and coming back stronger might win a news-cycle--but it will NOT change any of the fundamentals of the race for the better for you. The stock-market is wobbling or outright crashing on the news, people are scrambling to see if Pence could be electable (The Omnivore doesn't think it works like that--but is not an election expert), and so on. Nothing would depress the vote like Pence running and it's probably too late to get Pence-Ryan on the ballots anyway.

No: this idea helps no one.

Here, for you Trumpers, are some laughs to help you through the hard times. The Omnivore is caring that way:

Yes, The Omnivore is just a caring guy like that. You're welcome!
