The New "Tea Party" Wasn't What She Expected

A solid Never-Trumper conservative has nothing but contempt for the rioters and looters (?) in Portland attacking the Federal courthouse every night. She follows deceptively edited videos by Andy Ngo and thinks the antifas are out of control.

When The Omnivore suggested she'd have the same ire for the Boston Tea Party she was upset! How DARE The Omnivore compare those LARPERs to the brave founding Americans??

How DHARE HE??

Oh, he dhare.   Let's level-set:

1. The Boston Tea Party wasn't quite the revolutionary act of pure ideological defiance you may have been taught it was. In fact, it was less ideological pure than the current Portland protests.
2. The guys defending the court house are federal officers, not mercs. HOWEVER, they are anonymized (like when you go incognito on your browser). This is because, allegedly, the antifas have doxed them and will go after them at home. In reality, though, we saw this use of federal force a few weeks ago when literally blanked out federal officers were brought to Washington DC as a security force to a great public outcry from the press. If you think The Founding Fathers would have approved of a masked, anonymous police force you are at very best kidding yourself. Washington condemned the Boston Tea Party.
3. You think Portland had problems LONG BEFORE Trump? You're right. Portland (and Oregon in general) has a long history of white supremacy both on the ground and in the offices of its government. You didn't click that link, did you. That's okay: The Omnivore knows you didn't know all that shit and learning it might hurt.
1. There's a reason the Proud Boys and the po-po in Portland get along well.
2. There's a reason that all the lousy little wannabe nazis go to Portland to get their march on.
3. Now you know.

That's level setting. Now we get to the good stuff.

It's The Federal GUMMIT'S JHERB TO PROTEC TEH COURT HOUSE!

How can The Omnivore not see that these guys are Just Doing Their Jobs? It is the job of these guys to protect the Federal land . . .AND THE SIDEWALK TOO!! Isn't The Omnivore being unfair?

Nope.

So, okay: It is the job of the Federal Protective Service to protect the court house. That's right. But: It's also the job of the mayor and the police to protect the court house--yes, even the Federal one. Why aren't they?

Well, for one thing, the mayor isn't happy with the federal invasion of his city. And well he should not be: the days prior there were unmarked cars filled with anonymized paramilitary (DHS) troops grabbing people off the street.

Was that protecting "The Court House"?

(uh-oh)

No, no reader, it was not. It was Trump trying to flex federal muscle against "the antifas" (the moms, the 75 year old guy who got put in the hospital--those scary motherfuckers, those antifas).

When the public reacted badly to that--as well they fucking should, Trump doubled down and the mayor forbid the local PD from working with federal agents.

So now it's a clash between who?

 

Oh--right: the people and The Federal Government. Not the mayor. Not the governor.

So note: IT ABSOFUCKLINGLUTLY WAS NOT THE JERB OF THE DHS TO GO AROUND ARRESTING PEOPLE OFF THE STREETS IN UNMARKED VEHICLES.

Secondly: The head of the organization that you think is doing their jobs is an "acting head." Not nominated. Not certified. No vote--nothing. He's chosen by Trump and Trump knows even a republican congress wouldn't certify him for the job.

So, no: they have an illegitimate leader and are doing illegitimate things. Sorry.

Okay But They're Setting FIRES!

Yeah, fires were set. Cans of beans were thrown. That kind of shit. They were also tear gassed, peper-bulleted and sprayed, and rubber bulleted.  It looks like there's some serious both-sides shit going on here--and the attempt to stop a federal court house from being spray-painted isn't justification for it.

Firstly: The fires being set are not the burn-down-the-building fires that use spray accelerants, let it soak in, and then ignite it, aiming for the more highly inflammable substances (such as rugs, or curtains or whatever).

No, these are pansy little fires that have not even required the fire department to put out.

That's not nothing--even a small fire can be dangerous--but it also isn't attempted murder.

The Moms Are HELPING

You bet your ass they're helping. Black moms have been on the front lines for ever. Now white moms are getting involved. 

Do you wonder why that is? Do you think Andy Ngo is showing you some kind of truth that you won't see elsewhere that exposes these white, middle aged moms as secret antifas?

Nope.

What you are seeing is a reaction to gross injustice coming from the top of the Federal Government and being exercised in Portland where Trump and his cronies (the Wolfe guy is in the dictionary next to "crony") are trying to generate TV-media to help convince you that America is under attack by The Antifas, led, in sekret by Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden.

That it's kinda working is really, really sad.
